Women We Love: Gloria Steinem
Posted on 15 June 2016
This spring I picked up a new book to keep me entertained while waiting to board my flight at the Denver airport. I had never read anything by Gloria Steinem before, although familiar with her work as an activist, but after spending the last several years of my life traveling internationally and living out of camping tents and backpacks, I was drawn to the title "My Life on The Road." I was curious to hear her story and curious to know if her experience traveling was as transformative as my own. I was truly surprised with how much this book inspired me.
“The road is messy in the way that real life is messy. It leads us out of denial and into reality, out of theory and into practice, out of caution and into action, out of statistics and into stories—in short, out of our heads and into our hearts.”
Gloria Steinem—writer, activist, organizer, and inspiring leader—tells a story she has never told before, a candid account of her life as a traveler, a listener, and a catalyst for change. An inspiring tale that encourages women to take no-shit. "Girls need to know they can break the rules" p.79
Now that it's almost summer, there's no better time than now to hit the road, go somewhere new, push your limits and break the rules. Thanks Gloria for your decades of hard work and inspiration.
